An ongoing textile collection
Built from the woodcarving patterns of a Transylvanian artisan, whose work remained largely unseen due to war and political isolation.
Ode to Freedom begins by bringing those patterns into the present.
Translating these patterns into textiles allowed them to travel.
The collection brings together two distinct craft traditions:
Transylvanian woodcarving and Indian hand-block printing.
Each textile is hand-printed in Ajrakhpur, Gujarat,
in the workshop of Sufiyan Ismail Khatri,
using natural dyes and techniques passed down through generations.
Production here is collaboration — not outsourced labour.
Irregularities are not defects. They are evidence of the hand.
Ode to Freedom consists of ten patterns,
released slowly.
Each pattern forms the basis of a limited textile edition.
Once complete, it is not repeated.
Pattern I: Dream Compass
Dream Compass is the first pattern released within the collection.
From this textile, a limited series of cushion covers was produced,
hand-printed, numbered and made to last.
At the heart, a rose blooms — love, harmony, protection.
Four flowers extend outward, reaching the world, yet anchored at the centre.
A motif of strength and courage, inherited and reimagined,
guiding the heart toward its own freedom.
– Collection philosophy –
Livelihoods sustained through craft.
The land respected through natural dyeing.
Two traditions carried forward.
These textiles are not decorative objects.
They are carriers of history, labour and cultural continuity.
By owning one, you participate in a living tradition.
