From pattern to textile
The finished object is the result of a process that moves between places, materials and hands.
The pattern begins in Transylvania. The textile is printed din Ajrakhpur, India.
It returns to Transylvania to be finished and individually numbered.

Pattern
The patterns used in Ode to Freedom originate from inherited Transylvanian woodcarving motifs.
They are not reproduced as historical artifacts.
They are translated into a new material language.

India
Printing and dyeing
Each textile is hand-block printed in Ajrakhpur, Gujarat,
in the workshop of Sufiyan Ismail Khatri,
using natural dyes and techniques passed down through generations.
Because of this process:
no two pieces are identical —
and none can be replaced.
Production here is collaboration, not outsourced labour.

Transylvania
Finishing and assembly
After printing, the textiles travel to Transylvania.
Here they are cut, sewn, and brought to their final form.
This stage is deliberately small-scale.
Each finished piece is individually numbered.
Craft and time
The process takes time. Small variations are part of its beauty.
Made to last
Pure cotton and natural dyes.
Thoughtful finishing.
Created to be lived with and passed on.
